INSURANCE
All fees are inclusive of personal accident insurance for pupils.
Fee remission is not given for absence for any reason. A scheme to cover illness (Schools Fees Refund Scheme) is available on an opt-in basis.
Parents are strongly encouraged to take out personal insurance to cover loss of income through business failure, or long-term sickness, which would result in an inability to pay school fees.
The school’s insurance policy does not cover private property. Pupils’ Personal Effects insurance is available on an opt-in basis. This policy does not cover mobile phones.
Personal Effects Insurance* £16 per term
(* Maximum sum insured is £5,000 with a single item limit of £2,000. Exclusions apply)
Parents of boarders are asked to deposit sufficient money with the school at the beginning of the term for their son or daughter’s pocket money and foreseeable travel expenses. The school does not provide travel expenses to and from home and will only advance cash in emergencies and immediate repayment.
FEE REDUCTIONS
When two or more siblings from the same family attend Dover College simultaneously, the following remissions may be granted:
This remission is given in respect of the youngest child/children. Sibling remission does not apply to children in Pre-Reception or the Nursery.
Members of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces and Diplomatic Service eligible for the Continuity of Education Allowance pay a parental contribution of 10% of the full boarding fee.
PAYMENT TERMS
The school’s preferred method of payment is by direct debit. If parents wish to pay termly, payment must be made by the first day of each term, as printed on the fees invoice.
Of note, school fees are calculated annually; this figure is divided into three equal portions to arrive at termly rates. No discount is applicable for differing lengths of terms; the same principle applies for fractions of terms regardless of the relative length of each half-term. Extras are charged termly in arrears; insurance premiums are charged termly in advance.
A 1.5% per month late payment charge may be levied on account balances not paid. If fees are overdue, we regret that pupils will not be permitted to incur any expenses on the account until fees are paid in full.
Fees can also be paid in advance, which includes a small discount. Please contact the Director of Finance and Operations to discuss this option.
NOTICE REQUIREMENTS
If you wish to withdraw your child from the College (other than at the normal leaving date in Year 13), you shall either give a term’s notice to that effect or shall pay to the School a term’s fees in lieu of notice. This means that if, for example, you wish to withdraw your child with effect from the start of the Michaelmas Term (the start of an academic year) then you would need to inform the Headmaster, in writing, that you wish to withdraw your child on or before the first day of the preceding Summer Term (ie. the final term of the preceding academic year). This applies at all transition points throughout the College including Pre-Reception to Reception, Year 6 to Year 7, and Year 11 to Year 12. A term’s written notice is required to change from Full to Weekly Boarding or cease boarding and become a day pupil.
If you would like further information on any of the above points please contact the Director of Finance and Operations.
